“And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.” (1 Samuel 8:18)
During Old Testament days the Israelis asked God for a King so they could be like other nations. This request made through Samuel (1 Samuel 8) came many years after God had repeatedly provided for their every need before and after entering the Promised Land. God warned the people through Samuel as to what would happen if a king ruled over them.
In essence God told the people that a king would take complete control over their lives, plus tax them at the rate of 10 percent. Oh, how Americans now would welcome the day with a tax of only 10 percent. Counting all taxes, Americans pay in excess of 40 percent.
Here is the sad prognosis God gave to the people of Israel if they were under the rule of a man (king) versus, under the rule of God, “And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.” (1 Samuel 8:18) Ouch! If people in America would rather have a government to rule over our lives, a day will come when we will regret that our desires were met. Crying out to the Lord at that point may fall on deaf ears. Ouch!
God was saying that a king who controls your life and takes 10 percent of your earnings is a bad deal. Can we not conclude that 40 percent is a worse deal, yet we are still asking our king (the government) to rule over us? Pitiful … they take your money and then control you with those dollars, plus they borrow more money (to buy more votes and exercise more control) and pile up debt that your children and grandchildren will have to pay. What a shameful legacy! And, unfortunately much of the control our government officials have over us is strictly so they can maintain their positions of power.
One relevant example: where is the real justification that taxpayers in America should cough up billions of dollars because we supposedly might have manmade global warming some day that could/may create disasters like raising the sea level by 20 feet? Where’s the proof? There is none! And thousands of scientists have said so. It is simply a power/money grab propelled by misinformation, half-truths, and outright lies from politicians, researchers, educators and businesses poised to reap profits from solar, wind, other energy products and propaganda at an enormous cost to American taxpayers while our country has the technology for nuclear power and has vast quantities of coal and oil that politicians have ruled that we cannot use. The elitists are in the process of destroying the most progressive, successful, and generous country in the world, and they are doing it under the guise of “saving the planet.” A properly trained fifth-grader knows better, and a poorly educated adult doesn’t have a clue.
Tyrant, oppressor, dictator, despot, and traitor are all appropriate words that describe those who work to eliminate your freedoms in this great country. I have two suggestions; (1) we must not let the government’s bureaucrats, elected officials, and lying media types (ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, film industry) pull the wool over our eyes. (2) we must cry out to the Lord now before things get any worse. Yes, Lord help us!
